A memorial meeting was held on June 4 at Plaça Nova in Barcelona. Ukrainians asked passers-by to blow up white balloons, each symbolizing a Ukrainian child known to have been killed at the hands of Russian soldiers, which were then joined together by string.

The number “262”, representing the total known child victims of war in its first 100 days, was formed out of burning candles. Children’s toys, clothes, pushchairs and photographs of the victims were also laid out in the square. Attendees sang hymns and shared a minute of silence.
