MOSCOW – Moldova’s signing of the association agreement with the European Union has brought nothing to this country and it is not ruled out that this agreement will be repealed due to upcoming parliamentary elections in the republic, Moldovan President Igor Dodon said.
“This is a real situation. We are pragmatics. We understand that there is an association agreement with the European Union. By the way, I have repeatedly spoken out against the signing of this agreement. I think that this agreement has yielded no pluses for Moldova,” Dodon said at a press conference following the talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Jan. 17.
“We have lost the Russian market, and no matter how strange it sounds, our export volumes to the European Union have also dropped,” he said.
“So, we have gained nothing from the signing of this agreement. And I do not rule out that there will be a stance after the next parliamentary elections, and I will support this position of parliamentary majority – the Party of Socialists. I hope that they will gain a parliamentary majority and this agreement will be annulled,” Dodon said.
