Seventy-six percent of Georgian citizens would approve of their country’s accession to the European Union, according to the results of a public opinion survey conducted for the U.S.-based National Democratic Institute and published on August 12.

Another 11% of those polled described Georgia’s possible entry into the EU as unacceptable, and another 13% of respondents could not answer the question.

Simultaneously, 74% of respondents said they would approve of Georgia’s accession to NATO, while 11% took the opposite view.

The public opinion survey was conducted between July 13 and July 25 via telephone interviews and involved 2,016 people.
