President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky congratulated the United States on Veterans Day and noted the outstanding achievements of veterans of Ukrainian origin in the U.S. army.

“In partnership with our friends and allies the Ukrainian nation has won victories around the world. Today marks a day of tribute and respect to the warriors of our strategic partner and ally, the United States. Ukrainian Americans have served with honor and dignity in the ranks of the U.S. Armed Forces. Great American heroes such as Sgt. Michael Strank, USMC whose squad erected the legendary flag on the black sands of Iwo Jima,” he wrote on his Facebook page on Nov. 11.

Zelensky said that Ukrainian Americans were honored with the U.S. Armed Forces highest award for valor, the Medal of Honor. “Those legendary Ukrainian American warriors: Nicholas Minue, John Dutko, and Nicholas Oresko, serve as living testament to American values. Another example of quiet, dedicated service is that of Roman Kupchynsky, a man who quietly made history,” he said.

The president of Ukraine congratulated the U.S. Veterans Service Organization, the Ukrainian American Veterans. “Today, Veterans Day in America, the Ukrainian American veterans reverently preserve Ukrainian culture and martial spirit of the Cossacks. Thank you for your continued support of Ukraine during these trying times. Glory to Ukraine! God bless America!” He said.
