You're reading: Zelenskiy, Kobolyev discuss energy cooperation with US delegation

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy and Naftogaz Ukrainy CEO Andriy Kobolyev on May 20 met with the U.S. delegation led by U.S. Secretary of Energy Rick Perry, Naftogaz’s press service said.

The press service said the sides had discussed U.S.-Ukraine cooperation in the energy sector, including natural gas extraction and issues of preserving Ukraine’s gas transit potential, the press service said.

The sides also discussed Ukraine’s preparations for the coming heating season, financing and the accumulation of sufficient gas supplies in underground storage facilities. A project for creating routes for the import of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from a regasification terminal in Poland to Ukraine was also discussed.

Zelenskiy’s advisers Oleksandr Danyliuk and Ruslan Riaboshapka, along with Ukraine’s Deputy Foreign Minister Olena Zerkal and Head of the Mission of Ukraine to NATO Vadym Prystaiko attended the talks. The United States was represented by U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine Negotiations Kurt Volker, and U.S. Senator Ron Johnson.
