Ukraine opposes the frozen conflict in Donbas, Head of the President’s Office of Ukraine Andriy Yermak has said.

“The Ukrainian side is categorically opposed to the frozen conflict (in Donbas),” Yermak said on the air in the ICTV television channel on Monday.

Yermak also said during his visit to New York to participate in the 76th session of the UN General Assembly, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky did not discuss the possibility of involving peacekeeping forces to resolve the conflict in eastern Ukraine.

“And so far, I think, we are not at the stage to discuss this issue,” he said.

According to Yermak, “in order to achieve peace, it is needed to sit down at the negotiating table, directly, with a side to the conflict, which does not recognize itself as the side to the conflict, and agree on the beginning of an end to the war and the beginning of the return of the occupied territories to Ukraine.”
