World Bank Group President Jim Yong Kim notes the critical importance for Ukraine of the creation of the Anti-Corruption Court and the willingness of the organization to assist in the implementation of medical reform.
“We consider this to be a critical moment for Ukraine’s economic growth in the future, not only in the mechanism of land reform, but also that the perception of Ukraine in the world will change in a very positive direction,” the WB Group president said during a meeting with the Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman in Kyiv on Nov. 14.
He noted that the adoption of land reform is one of the conditions for attracting investments.
“I know that you and your government are committed to reform and we will do everything in our power to help you go through the last stages,” said Jim Yong Kim.
According to the president of the WB group, on Nov. 13, he met with the leaders of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) and the successes they were able to achieve are impressive.
“The next step is the creation of an independent higher [Anti-Corruption] court, which is a critical part of the program of cooperation with the IMF. But I want you to know, from the perspective of investors, people watching Ukraine, this next step is absolutely critical. We understand that the adoption of this decision is inevitable, but I can’t help emphasizing the importance of creating such a court,” he said.
Jim Yong Kim added that the WB would send its best experts to assist Ukraine in carrying out the medical reform.
