MOSCOW – The Ukrainian side has requested organizing a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during Holocaust memorial events in Israel, but Putin will only be able to hold stand-up meetings with foreign counterparts due to his busy schedule, Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov said.
“As I said, the program is very intense, and should there be separate meetings, they will be stand-up ones and will be brief,” Ushakov told journalists, replying to an Interfax question on whether Putin may meet Zelensky and United States Vice President Mike Pence.
“Of course, the president will in any case shake hands with all the main participants. This is inevitable. It is highly doubtful that lengthy conversations will take place. There is simply physically no time,” Ushakov said.
“There are requests, in particular from President Zelensky, but as I said, time is limited, the schedule is tightened to the limit,” he said.
