The administration of U.S. President Donald Trump and the Congress have backed security assistance to Ukraine, the Ukrainian Embassy to the United States said in a statement on Facebook on Sept. 12 night.

“We welcome the decision of the U.S. administration and the Congress to unblock security assistance to Ukraine. […] The funds will be spent on weapons, military hardware, and services improving capacities of the Ukrainian army,” the Embassy said.

Ukraine will get $250 million from the Pentagon’s budget within the framework of the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative, $115 million from the U.S. budget 2019 within the framework of the State Department’s Foreign Military Financing program, and $26.5 million from the U.S. budget 2018 under the same program. The allocations will total $391.5 million.

“The U.S. security assistance policy for Ukraine fighting the Russian aggression evidences bilateral strategic partnership and makes a weighty contribution to European and Euro-Atlantic security,” the Embassy said.
