UkrInform: Zaharchenko’s entourage trying to flee ‘Donetsk people’s republic’

Flowers lie outside the restaurant Separ on Sept. 1, in Donetsk, eastern Ukraine, the day after Alexander Zakharchenko, the leader of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DNR), was killed in a bomb blast. Zakharchenko, the main separatist leader in eastern Ukraine was killed in a bomb blast in the centre of rebel hub Donetsk on Aug. 31, his spokeswoman said, the most prominent rebel victim in the four-year conflict. An AFP journalist at the scene said police had cordoned off the block where the blast occurred.

“The entourage of Zakharchenko is trying to flee the territory of ‘Donetsk People’s Republic.’ They put on civilian clothes and try to escape. Donetsk has been encircled with the military equipment, all the militarized units of the illegal armed formations got fully operational. Such a situation, according to sources in the ‘Donetsk People’s Republic’, will last three days,” Pavlo Lysiansky, the representative of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, posted on Facebook.

According to Lysiansky, at least two people were arrested on the night of September 1 in Donetsk.
