You're reading: Ukrainian, Georgian defense ministers sign cooperation plan between ministries

The plan of bilateral cooperation between the Ministries of Defense of Ukraine and Georgia was signed by heads of the defense departments of both countries, Andriy Taran and Juansher Burchuladze, the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported on May 25.

On May 25, the visit of the Ukrainian delegation headed by Taran to Georgia began. On the first day, working meetings of the delegation of the Ministry of Defense with Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili and Minister of Defense of Georgia Juansher Burchuladze took place, the message says.

“We and Georgia are united by common threats and development goals … We are determined to deepen cooperation to effectively counter regional and global threats,” Taran said.

Taking into account Russia’s regular destructive manifestations and aggression, Taran and Burchuladze identified the priorities of bilateral defense cooperation in the areas of cyber security, the military-technical sphere, joint participation in international military exercises and the introduction of NATO standards into the daily activities of the national armed forces. The parties exchanged experience in countering the escalation of Russian aggression.

As a result of the bilateral meeting, Taran and Burchuladze signed a plan of bilateral cooperation between the defense ministries for a certain period.
