The cyber police of Ukraine have received 194 pieces of special equipment for protecting against cyber threats under an program administered by the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), Interior Minister Arsen Avakov has said.
“We today herald the next stage of our cooperation (with the OSCE) and announce the transfer of special equipment for the cyber police,” Avakov said during a ceremony on Wednesday in Kyiv marking the event.
British Ambassador to Ukraine Judith Gough, who attended the ceremony, said her government was happy to cooperate.
“Official handover of equipment to #Ukraine Cyber Police. UK provided training to 184 officers. Working together to tackle #cyber crime,” Gough said on her Twitter page following the event.
The head of Ukraine’s cyber police unit Serhiy Dmediuk, in turn, said the software and specialized programs, as well as equipment and accessories, would help to study and analyze cyber threats.
“The equipment is one of the tools, which help qualified police conduct their work,” he said. “I think the use of more modern equipment, of course, will make it easier to react more quickly.”
