Court decisions cannot stop the electoral process, which will start after the publication of the decree on the Rada dissolution, Ukraine’s Central Elections Commission secretary Natalia Bernatska said.

“Under current legislation, no court decision can stop the election process if it has begun. As soon as a [presidential] decree [on the dissolution of the Verkhovna Rada] is published, the electoral process will be in motion the next day,” Bernatska told reporters following the inauguration of the Ukrainian president in Kyiv on May 20.

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said earlier that day that he was dissolving the eighth term of the Verkhovna Rada.
