You're reading: Ukraine appeals to IMF to start online mission in country

On Sept. 21, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmygal held an online meeting with Director of the European Department of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Alfred Kammer, during which they discussed the cooperation of official Kyiv with the Fund.

“The head of government said that a letter was sent to Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund Kristalina Georgieva with an appeal regarding the start of the online mission in Ukraine,” the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine said on Sept. 21 evening.

Shmyhal personally congratulated Kammer on his recent appointment to the post and assured that the continuation of cooperation with the IMF is one of the important priorities of the work of both the president and the government of Ukraine.

“Ukraine highly appreciates the comprehensive support provided by the IMF in difficult times for the whole world,” the Prime Minister said.

Shmyhal also invited Kammer to visit Ukraine after the completion of restrictive measures in connection with the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) disease.

According to the information, Finance Minister of Ukraine Serhiy Marchenko and Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) Kyrylo Shevchenko were also present during the online meeting.
