Former Belarusian presidential candidate Svetlana Tikhanovskaya has demanded that all members of the Coordination Council of the Belarusian opposition earlier detained, including Maria Kolesnikova, be released.

“Maria Kolesnikova must be released immediately, as well as all members of the Coordination Council detained earlier and political prisoners,” Tikhanovskaya said in a statement on Telegram.

According to Tikhanovskaya, the Coordination Council’s mission is to be a platform for talks, as there is no other solution. “Lukashenko must realize this. One cannot hold the people hostage. Abducting people in broad daylight, Lukashenko demonstrates his own weakness and inadequacy,” she said.
