The Committee of Voters of Ukraine (CVU) says that President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky uses his official trips to the regions of the country to campaign for Sevant of the People political party, as evidenced by photos and videos from Zelensky’s regional trips.
“Among other things, Zelensky actually carried out hidden political campaigning during his trips to Zaporizhia and Kherson. So, on August 19, during Zelensky’s working trip to Zaporizhia and on August 20, during a trip to Kherson, on the stage where the president spoke, there were materials with signs of propaganda posted in favor of the Servant of the People political party,” CVU said in a statement published on Facebook on August 20.
It is noted that Zelensky was speaking against the background of banners with the “Servant of the People” logo and the inscription “Ze! Local,” and he also used the phrase “Ukraine is you” in his speeches, which is the official electoral slogan of the political party in the local elections in 2020.
“In addition, Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov took part in the president’s working trip to Zaporizhia, who during the event officially presented the candidate from the Servant of the People political party in the elections for the mayor of Zaporizhia,” the text says.
So, according to CVU, such actions of the President and members of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine are a manifestation of the use of official powers for political purposes, have signs of political corruption and are abuse of administrative resources.
“Considering that funding for the president’s working trips is carried out for budgetary funds, such actions can be regarded as a manifestation of hidden campaigning for taxpayers’ funds. According to the Unified Web Portal for the Use of Public Funds, on average, one regional flight of the president costs about Hr 250,000,” stressed the CVU.
It is also noted that since the beginning of August, the State Management of Affairs has transferred more than Hr 1 million to the Ukraine airline for Zelensky’s flights.
