The opinion of Ukrainians in September 2016 about the activities of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, the Cabinet of Ministers and the Verkhovna Rada have soured, according to a survey conducted by the Sociological Group Rating, at the request of the International Republican Institute.
Answering the question, “Do you approve the activity of the Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko?” in September 2016, 3% of respondents answered “fully approve” (3% in June 2016). Some 17% answered “rather approve” (16% in June 2016), “more likely do not approve” – 30% (36% in June 2016) and “do not approve” – 44% (37% in June 2016). Some 7% of respondents were undecided (9% in June 2016).
The activity of Cabinet under Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman was fully approved by less than 1% of respondents (without essential changes compared to June 2016), “rather approve” – 17% (19% in June 2016), “more likely not approve” – 28% (30% in June 2016), “do not approve at all” – 51% (29% in June 2016). Some 8% were undecided (21% in June 2016).
When asked about the Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada’s activity, less than 1% of respondents answered “fully approve” (remains unchanged compared to June 2016), “rather approve” – 7% (9% in June 2016), “more likely do not approve”- 29% (35% in June 2016), “do not approve at all” – 58% (46% in June 2016). Some 5% of the surveyed were undecided (9% in June 2016).
The personal approval rating of the activities of Ukrainian politicians are as follows: 27% of respondents positively view Civil Position Party leader Anatoliy Hrytsenko (51% have a negative attitude), Lviv Yayor Andriy Sadovy – 25% (55% have negative attitude), MP from the Batkivschyna parliamentary faction Nadiia Savchenko – 24% (62% of respondents are negative), Radical Party Head Oleh Liashko – 23% (69% are negative), Batkivschyna Party leader Yulia Tymoshenko – 23% (69% – are negative) Head of Odesa Regional State Administration Mikheil Saakashvili – 22% (64% – negative), Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko – 21% (68% – negative), Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko – 21% (69% – negative), Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko – 20% (73% – negative), Verkhovna Rada Chairman Andriy Parubiy – 25% (71% – negative attitude), Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman – 15% (77% – negative), Opposition Bloc Party leader Yuriy Boiko – 15% (71% – negative attitude), Svoboda Party Oleh Tiahnybok – 14% (77% – negative attitude), Ukrainian Interior Minister Arsen Avakov – 11% (75% – negative attitude), Kharkiv Mayor Hennadiy Kernes – 8% (72% – negative attitude), former Ukrainian Premier Arseniy Yatsenyuk – 5% (89% – negative attitude).
The survey was conducted throughout Ukraine (except in occupied territories of Donbas and Crimea) from September 28 to October 7, 2016. Some 2,400 Ukrainians, aged 18 and above, were surveyed by means of personal interview at their homes. The margin of error does not exceed 2.0%.
