Chief of the Specialized Anti-corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) Nazar Kholodnytsky has assured that he would not allow putting the brakes on the investigation into a scam in the defense industry of Ukraine and the investigation into an alleged involvement of some employees of law enforcement agencies in these crimes.

“I will not gloss over the moments that relate to corruption in the defense sector, the fuel and energy complex… For the head of the SAPO and for the SAPO in general, a number of cases are of top priority: Rotterdam+, Dusseldorf+, PrivatBank, which concern the defense sector,” Kholodnytsky said at a meeting of the anti-corruption committee of the Verkhovna Rada on April 24.

In the context of the investigation of the abuses revealed in the journalistic investigation of the Bihus.info team and the role of law enforcement agencies in this situation, the head of the SAPO said: “I will not allow putting the brakes on it.”

He said that on April 23, a meeting of the disciplinary commission of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) was held, during which the findings of an office audit conducted as part of a scandal about hiding or inaction of corruption schemes in the defense industry by law enforcement officials, were considered, but it was held behind the closed doors.

“I would like this commission to be public, so that everyone could see what we say… none of the prosecutors knows what the conclusions of this commission are,” Kholodnytsky said.

“I emphasize that these cases are priorities. And given the fact that the war is continuing… SAPO and NABU must be apolitical,” the head of SAPO said.
