Four Ukrainian soldiers have been killed in action and three more wounded in combat over the past day, the Ukrainian military said on Oct. 11.
Russian-led forces opened fire 28 times on the front line in eastern Ukraine over the previous 24 hours, he Joint Forces Operation press center reported in its morning bulletin. The enemy killed two Ukrainian soldiers and seriously wounded three more.
Another two soldiers were killed in a mine blast on Oct. 11, the Ukrainian military said.
“The separatists 12 times used weapons banned under the Minsk agreements,” a statement from the Ukrainian military reads.
According to the military, the enemy used 120- and 82-millimeter mortars, as well as infantry fighting vehicles, various types of grenade launchers, heavy machine guns, and small arms. Enemy snipers were also active.
Clashes were reported on the outskirts of the Donbas settlements of Krymske, Novotoshkivske, Zolote, Stepne, Troitske, Luhanske, Maiske, Zaitseve, Avdiyivka, Krasnohorivka, Maryinka, Novomykhailivka, Starohnativka, Pavlopil, Hnutove, Lebedynske, and Shyrokyne.
According to Ukrainian intelligence, six enemy solders have been killed and ten others injured in the past day.
In the early hours of Oct. 11, there were three more clashes, but there were no casualties among Ukrainian troops, Ukraine’s military said.
Meanwhile, the military also reported today that on the morning of Oct. 10 an OSCE patrol was attacked by the Russian-led forces in Donetsk Oblast.
“The militants opened fire with small arms near Kamyanka at the positions of Ukraine’s Armed Forces,” the bulletin says. “(Ukraine’s army and OSCE) came under fire near Donetsk water filtration station during a daily staff rotation.”
Ukraine’s army said Russian-led forces knew that an OSCE SMM patrol is sent daily to the area near Kamyanka, and that the enemy was thus breaking guarantees of security and a cease-fire that had been provided by the sides to OSCE.
