Ukraine’s National Police in Kyiv region have detained a 48-year-old crime boss who was on the international wanted list. The Russian citizen was detained during a police operation, codenamed “Migrant.”

“Law enforcement authorities have established that this citizen is a ‘crime boss’ (‘vor v zakone’) and is on the international wanted list for arrest and subsequent extradition to the Kingdom of Spain for committing crimes under Article 515, Article 517 (an illegal criminal organization), Article 301 , Article 302 (money laundering), Article 392, Article 390 (falsification of a commercial or official document), Article305 (crimes against the state treasury) of Spain’s Criminal Code,” the media liaison department of Kyiv region’s National Police said on Friday.

The basis for the detention is an international arrest warrant and a European arrest warrant.

The man has been taken to the Boryspil police department, where a protocol has been drafted on detaining the suspect for 72 hours. He will remain at a temporary detention center until a decision has been made by the court.
