The Ukrainian Embassy in the U.S. has refuted April 17’s reports on the alleged detention of representatives of the Ukrainian space industry in the United States.
“The Ukrainian embassy in the U.S. refutes the information about the alleged detention of representatives of the Ukrainian space industry participating in a symposium in Colorado Springs, U.S., and the alleged departure of the Ukrainian Ambassador to the U.S. in Colorado to clarify the circumstances. This is a fake and a blatant lie,” the embassy’s message on the Facebook page.
The embassy said the Ukrainian delegation is working on the planned program and continues to participate in the event, while Ukraine’s Ambassador to the U.S. Valeriy Chaly continues his work in Washington as a member of the Ukrainian Delegation at the IMF and World Bank meeting.
“The embassy does not rule out that this is a planned information attack, which can be continued by throwing in other fake news. We urge the Ukrainian and international media to be attentive and not to succumb to provocations,” the report says.
The press service of the State Space Agency of Ukraine also denied these reports.
Earlier, a number of media reported that on April 17 during a visit to the symposium in Colorado Springs, the U.S. intelligence agencies detained leaders of the State Space Agency of Ukraine and the Pivdenne (Yuzhnoye) Design Bureau allegedly on suspicion of their involvement in the illegal sale of a missile program project documentation to North Korea. The media also reported that Chaly flew out to Colorado to clarify the circumstances of the incident.
