Deputy of Ukraine from the Petro Poroshenko Bloc faction Oleksandr Suhoniako has submitted a draft resolution to the Verkhovna Rada on the inauguration of the newly elected president of Ukraine on June 1.

According to the official website of the Verkhovna Rada, the relevant document was registered under No. 10270-4 on May 10.

“To hold a solemn meeting of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in the meeting hall of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine at 10:00 a.m. on June 1, 2019, on the occasion of taking the oath to the Ukrainian people by the newly elected President of Ukraine,” the draft resolution says.

This is the fifth draft resolution. Earlier, independent deputies Serhiy Mishchenko and Viktor Baloha submitted draft resolutions (No. 10270 and No. 10270-1), which proposed to hold the inauguration of President-elect of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskiy on May 19. Later, independent deputy Vitaliy Kupriy registered the draft resolution on holding a solemn meeting of the Verkhovna Rada devoted to taking the oath by Zelenskiy on May 20.

After this, Ukraine’s parliamentarian from the Petro Poroshenko Bloc faction introduced draft resolution No. 10270-3, which envisages holding the inauguration in two stages: the official one in the Rada meeting hall on May 19 according to parliamentary regulations, and the second on ensuring the participation of the public and invited guests of foreign countries,” during which the newly elected president should again proclaim the oath to the Ukrainian people and the inaugural speech.

According to Ukrainian legislation, the solemn meeting of the Rada, at which the newly elected president of Ukraine takes the oath, is held no later than 30 days after the official announcement of the results of the next presidential elections in Ukraine.
