The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has ratified the memorandum of understanding between Ukraine and the European Union and the loan agreement between Ukraine as a borrower, the National Bank of Ukraine as a financial agent of the borrower and the EU as a lender (on Ukraine’s receiving 1 billion euros macro-financial assistance from the EU).
According to an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent, 242 people’s deputies voted for corresponding bill No. 0203 on Nov. 8 with the quorum being 226 votes.
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko on the same day, following talks with Vice President of the European Commission Valdis Dombrovskis, predicted that the first tranche of EU macro-financial assistance in the amount of 500 million euros would be received in the coming weeks.
“During the meeting, it was noted that Ukraine fulfills the obligations undertaken within the framework of the mentioned agreements as quickly as possible, and today the fulfillment of all six conditions for receiving the first tranche of aid (500 million euros) is completed, and a positive assessment of the European Commission is expected,” the presidential administration said.
