Russia’s multi-pronged military aggression against Ukraine has turned the modern geopolitical scene upside down, said Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki during the 14th European Economic Congress in Katowice on April 25.
Morawiecki emphasized the need to preserve Ukraine’s sovereignty, while demanding that Russian soldiers leave the neighboring country’s territory. Novel solutions are needed in the new circumstances that have arisen, he added.
“We offer such solutions, a plan to rebuild Ukraine, a plan of hope for Ukraine as well as for the entire EU [European Union]. This plan will be based on a new geopolitical setup,” the Polish prime minister noted, adding that until recently the Poles were accused of being Russophobes.
Today, however, more countries see the danger emanating from Russia’s posture toward other countries and that the restrictive measures imposed on the war-mongering nation not be reversed.
“Right now, I’m not so much concerned about the disrupted trade links with Russia as that those willing to restore them will emerge fast,” he said, emphasizing the need to firmly counter the Russian aggression here and now.
“This is what we are doing thanks to the implemented sanctions. We also need to ensure that we do not return to the original setup,” Morawiecki said.
Since many countries are reliant on Russian hydrocarbons, the country’s agricultural output as well Ukraine’s farming exports, the Polish prime minister said that Putin also attacked Europe’s energy and food security, creating “Putinflation.”
