Fifth President of Ukraine, leader of the European Solidarity Party Petro Poroshenko discussed Russia’s exaltation of the situation in Donbas with the President of the European People’s Party, ex-President of the European Council Donald Tusk.

“Petro Poroshenko called on European partners to consider strengthening economic and sectoral sanctions against Russia, including their synchronization with the latest U.S. sanctions and the termination of the implementation of the politically motivated Nord Stream 2 project, the deployment of a U.N. peacekeeping contingent on the territory of the occupied parts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, providing Ukraine with an Action Plan on NATO membership and European perspectives,” the press service of European Solidarity reports.

He also appealed to the European People’s Party with an appeal to support Ukraine’s initiative to create the Crimean Platform.

The parties also coordinated actions to jointly combat the destructive consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic. Poroshenko presented a new comprehensive anti-coal strategy European Solidarity and called on European partners to help Ukraine receive sufficient quantities of high-quality vaccines.

Poroshenko and Tusk also discussed the situation in the region of the common neighborhood – Moldova and Belarus.
