You're reading: Poroshenko: Decentralization reform in Ukraine to need constitutional regulation

The decentralization reform in Ukraine will need to be regulated at the constitutional level, President Petro Poroshenko has said.

“The [decentralization] reform is far from completion. I herewith state that it will need to be regulated at the constitutional level,” Poroshenko said at a meeting of the Regional Development Council in the Khmelnytsky region on Nov. 30.

He said decentralization belongs to those reforms whose results have already been felt by the population.

The president said decentralization will continue next year, as well.

“I am sure we will continue decentralization and in 2019 we will complete voluntary decentralization because I don’t want anyone to suffer from a town or village mayor’s unwillingness to work,” he said.
