You're reading: Poll: Most Ukrainians believe Crimea should be part of Ukraine

The majority of Ukrainians, 61.2%, believe that Crimea should be returned to Ukraine. This is evidenced by the results of a study conducted by the Ilko Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation together with the sociological service of the Razumkov Center.

At the same time, to the question “How do you see the future of Crimea?” 6.4% answered that Crimea should be part of Russia. Another 10.3% believe that Crimea should be an independent state entity, and 22.1% found it difficult to answer the question.

Also, when asked whether the respondents support the creation of the Crimean Tatar national autonomy in Crimea after the liberation from Russian occupation and the return of the peninsula to Ukraine, 24.1% answered that they definitely support, 33% rather support, 10.7% rather do not support, 11, 9% do not support at all, and 20.3% found it difficult to answer the question.

Legislative consolidation of the status of the Crimean Tatar people as an indigenous people of Ukraine is unconditionally supported by 28.8% of respondents, 32.6% – rather support, 9.8% – rather do not support, 10% – do not support at all, and 18.8% found it difficult to answer the question.

The field stage of the study took place in all regions of Ukraine with the exception of Crimea and the occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions from July 29 to August 4. In total, 2,019 interviews were conducted within the framework of the study. The statistical error of the sample with a probability of 0.95 does not exceed.
