Ukrainian law enforcers have identified the perpetrators who attempted to set fire to the office of the Society of Hungarian Culture of Transcarpathia in Uzhgorod in the early hours of February 4, and they were citizens of Poland, members of the Falanga right-wing radical organization, Head of Zakarpattia Regional State Administration Hennadiy Moskal has said.
“An attempt to set fire to the office of the Society of Hungarian Culture of Transcarpathia was carried out by two Polish citizens, members of the Falanga right-wing radical organization,” Moskal said on his personal website on February 21, citing data from law enforcers.
According to him, law enforcers established the identity of arsonists.
“These are Adrian Marglewski, born on April 1, 1996, a resident of Krakow, and Tomasz Rafal Szimkowiak, born on January 24, 1993, a resident of Bydgoszcz. Both of them are Polish citizens, followers of the Phalanga right-wing radical organization, whose members took part in the fighting in Donbas on the side of Russia-backed separatists,” Moskal said.
He also noted that these foreigners had carried out two arson attempts.
“Both foreigners will be notified in absentia of suspicion. After that they will be placed on the interstate wanted list,” he wrote.
As reported, in the early hours of February 4, in Uzhgorod, unidentified persons threw a Molotov cocktail in the window of the Transcarpathian Union of Hungarians (the issue concerns the Society of Hungarian Culture of Transcarpathia). No one was hurt in the incident.
The Hungarian Foreign Ministry condemned this attack and stated the need to deploy an OSCE observation mission to Zakarpattia region.
