You're reading: Pavlo Vovk reinstated as head of Kyiv District Administrative Court

The staff of the District Administrative Court in Kyiv through a secret voting has appointed Pavlo Vovk to be head of the court, court’s press service reported.

“On January 21, 2020, there was a meeting of the judges of the District Administrative Court in Kyiv, an issue of election of head of the court has been put on agenda. The head of the court was elected through a secret voting: 39 among 42 present judges voted for Pavlo Vovk,” reads the report.

As reported, on August 2, Vovk has been notified that he is suspected of interfering in the activities of the High Qualification Commission of Judges and other possible crimes.

He was charged with committing the following crimes: according to Part 3 of Article 27, Article 351-2 (organization of obstruction of the activities of the High Council of Justice, the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine), Part 3 of Article 27. Part 2 of Article 375 (organization of the deliberate unlawful sentence, decision, determination or decision of a judge (s)), Part 2 of Article 376 (interference with the activities of the judiciary) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

HCJ has refused to satisfy the motion of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine to suspend Vovk in connection with the investigation of the criminal proceedings.

Vovk called this case a political one.
