Chairman of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), Prime Minister of Albania and Minister for Foreign and European Affairs Edi Rama has reported that he will pay visit Ukraine in coming weeks.

“SMM (Special Monitoring Mission) and Ukraine will also be my destination during my first visit as OSCE Chairman,” he said delivering a speech to the OSCE Permanent Council in Vienna on Jan. 9.

Rama stressed that while the crisis in and around Ukraine remains the most pressing security challenge in Europe, the unique contribution of the OSCE SMM to reducing tensions and establishing peace, stability and security is important.

“The Chairmanship of Albania (in the OSCE ) will make its contribution to supporting respect for the principles and commitments of the OSCE, to the full implementation of the Minsk Agreements, supporting the efforts of the tripartite contact group and the process in the Normandy format,” he said.

As reported, on January 1, 2020 Albania undertook a year chairmanship of the OSCE.
