According to the Social Policy Ministry, 867 citizens of Ukraine and seven foreigners have received a status of the victims of human trafficking in 2019, of whom 454 were the victims of labor exploitation, Deputy Social Policy Minister for European Integration Serhiy Nizhynsky reported.
“As of today, Social Policy Ministry established a status of the persons, who became the victims of human trafficking: 867 citizens of Ukraine and seven foreign citizens received such status,” the deputy minister said at a press conference in Kyiv on Oct. 18.
According to him, there are 333 women and 85 children.
Nizhynsky has said that exploitation was rising through the last two years.
He also said that 454 people suffered from labor exploitation, 221 from sexual exploitation, 57 people were involved in begging, nine became victims of mixed exploitation, and 10 – of forced organ removal.
The deputy minister also noted that many victims were afraid to report that they suffered from human trafficking.
“In which countries do Ukrainian citizens suffer the most from such crimes? Russia, Poland, Turkey, Germany, the United Arab Emirates, Italy and China,” Nizhynsky added.
