Joint Forces Operation (JFO) Commander Lt. General Serhiy Nayev has informed the head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Ukraine Alan Aeshlimann on the security situation in Donbas and work to restore infrastructure facilities.

The meeting took place in Kramatorsk (Donetsk region) on Feb. 7.

Nayev said despite attempts by Russia to destabilize the political, economic and social situation in Ukraine and Russia’sbuild-upp near the border, the situation is under control.

“Demining groups have neutralized more than 10,500 explosive objects, surveyed about 10,000 hectares of land,” he said.

Nayev said JFO combined forces not only successfully fulfill the assigned combat missions, but also “do a great job of restoring damaged or destroyed infrastructure and providing comprehensive assistance to civilians.”

Aeshlimann said he was impressed by the amount of work done in this area. He said since the end of April 2018, hundreds of infrastructure facilities in settlements along the contact line have been restored.
