The National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP) has drafted a bill amending the law on political parties in Ukraine, which proposes limiting contributions in support of political parties, the agency’s press service has reported.
“The practical application and implementation by the National Agency of the provisions of the Law of Ukraine ‘On political parties in Ukraine’ (hereinafter referred to as the Law) set forth a number of legally unresolved issues and norms requiring clarification. There is a need to improve mechanisms for party financing, control and reporting of political parties,” NACP Chief Natalia Korchak said.
According to her, companies, whose founders are foreign legal entities, and persons who cannot be identified according to the information provided, are proposed to be banned from making contributions in support of political parties.
In addition, the agency also offers a number of other initiatives, such as clarifying the terms of opening of bank accounts, restrictions on making contributions in support of political parties, changes in the party’s report on property, income, expenditure and financial obligations, etc. In particular, the NACP proposes obliging the leaders of political forces or authorized persons of political parties to submit quarterly reports, stating information about their personal data.
