More than 10 percent of Ukrainian residents use Russian media as a source of news, according to a survey by the international organization Internews.
According to an Internews poll released at a press conference in Kyiv on Oct. 22, 13 percent of Ukrainians continue to use the Russian media to receive news. At the same time, 80 percent do not.
Some 30% of respondents, answering the question, do they know people who use Russian media, answered yes, while another 51 percent said no.
Speaking about the reasons people use Russian media, the majority of respondents (35 percent) said they could get an alternative point of view, 22 percent said Russian are interesting, 21 percent said they could receive news in Russian, and 4 percent were sure that the media were more truthful and are independent.
The survey was conducted by the international organization Internews with the support of the USAID U-Media project in June-July 2019 throughout Ukraine, with the exception of Russia-occupied areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, as well as Russia-occupied Crimea. Some 4,056 4056 respondents aged 18 to 65 years were interviewed face-to-face.
