BELGRADE – Ukraine’s idea of patrolling the Black Sea jointly with NATO is provocative, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
“As regards all kinds of initiatives, the Ukrainian side has many of them, and these initiatives are beginning to cause weariness in our partners,” he told reporters on Dec. 12.
“The idea of Ukraine, as well as of our Romanian Black Sea neighbors, of creating here a permanent NATO group, we see it as being provocative,” the minister said.
“We are convinced that all decisions regarding the Black Sea must be made by the littoral states, especially when it comes to providing security,” Lavrov said.
