Ambassador of Ukraine to Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina Vasyl Kyrylych and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Bisera Turković discussed the issue of returning to Ukraine the icon, which was previously kept in Luhansk, but later ended up in Sarajevo.
“With Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Turković talked about the return of the icon to Ukraine. I hope for a quick determination of the date of arrival of Ukrainian experts in Sarajevo and assistance in accessing the Ukrainian icon,” Kyrylych wrote on Twitter on Jan. 28.
He also said he discussed with Chief Prosecutor of Bosnia and Herzegovina Gordana Tadic the issue of cooperation between the two countries in the case of the icon. “The chief prosecutor has assured that a large number of investigative actions have been carried out in this case,” Kyrylych said.
As reported, during the visit of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov to Bosnia and Herzegovina, he was presented with a 300-year-old Ukrainian icon, previously kept in Luhansk. Later, the Ukrainian icon returned to Bosnia and Herzegovina for examination.
