The CIS Executive Committee has received a notice from Kyiv that it will not invite CIS monitors to observe the presidential election in Ukraine next year, CIS Executive Committee head Sergei Lebedev said.

“We have received an official notice from the relevant Ukrainian structures that Ukraine is refusing to participate in election monitoring. Therefore, it is unlikely that we will go there,” Lebedev told reporters in Minsk on October 10.

“Still, we may get such an invitation when the date [of the election] is set, in the run-up to it,” he said.

Ukraine’s parliamentary and presidential elections will be held in March 2019.
