The number of confirmed participants in the founding summit of the platform for the de-occupation of the Crimean peninsula (Crimea Platform) has increased to 42, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has said.

“In the morning there were 40 participants [of the Crimea platform]. And in the afternoon there are already 42,” Kuleba said on Facebook on Friday.

Earlier on the same day, he said that 40 states and international organizations had confirmed their participation in the constituent summit of the Crimea Platform.

The diplomat said the Crimea Declaration will be adopted at the summit, which will be open for further accession by states that, for one reason or another, will not be able to take part in the constituent summit.

The Crimea Platform is a new consultative and coordinating format initiated by Ukraine with the aim of increasing the effectiveness of the international response to the ongoing occupation of Crimea, increasing international pressure on Russia, as well as achieving the main goal, the de-occupation of Crimea and the full restoration of Ukraine’s sovereignty over the peninsula.

Officially, the activities of the Crimea Platform will be based on the inaugural summit, which is scheduled to be held in Kyiv on August 23, 2021. Some 42 states have already officially confirmed their participation in the summit.
