The Cabinet of Ministers has passed a resolution on the introduction of electronic sick leave certificates in April, Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Dmytro Dubilet has said in his Telegram channel.
“Today, at [the meeting of] the Cabinet of Ministers, we adopted a resolution regarding one of my favorite projects. Please welcome electronic sick leave certificate! We worked on them for several months. The idea is simple: instead of writing out sick leave certificates on paper, doctors will do it through a simple web interface using a digital signature… We should launch it in April,” he wrote on March 3.
According to the minister, such a decision was made in order to save money.
“There is a lot of fraud around sick leave certificates. They can be bought on the Internet for Hr 200 (if to google). Business and government spend billions of hryvnias a year on fake sick days. Now that they are in electronic form, it will be impossible to forge them without a doctor. And for doctors writing fake certificates will be more difficult, because now everything is automatically recorded and analyzed in a single electronic system,” Dubilet said.
In addition, he said that patients will no longer need to visit the hospital separately to get back from the sick leave. “The doctor sets the default sick term and it can be closed without a visit (a visit is needed if the deadline is different),” the minister wrote.
“We remove unnecessary bureaucracy. Information is transferred automatically to the [Social Insurance] Fund and to the employer,” Dubilet added.
In addition, he said that the state will not develop an additional system, but will adapt the existing software of the Pension Fund.
