The main version of the goal of firing at the car of the first assistant to the President of Ukraine Serhiy Shefir is a political assassination in order to create an atmosphere of fear for President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and his inner circle, adviser to the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Anton Gerashchenko said.

“Today I can say one thing – that there are many versions, the main one of which is that it was done as a political assassination in order to create an atmosphere of fear, an atmosphere of insecurity for the president and his inner circle,” Gerashchenko said on the air of Right to Power (Pravo na Vladu) program on the 1+1 television channel on September 23.

He said that everything possible is being done, as in other crimes, to find the killer.

“Naturally, we cannot say that there will be a 100% result, but we will do everything possible for this,” Gerashchenko said.

According to him, this crime was being prepared for a long time.

“Naturally, the killer did his best to leave with impunity, and this crime was being prepared for a long time. It is well known where Serhiy Shefir lives, it was shown by the journalists of many programs, everyone knows which route he rides every day. Therefore, this crime was prepared very seriously and very carefully,” the adviser to the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine said.

Gerashchenko said that now they are searching through the forest from which the shooting at Shefir’s car was carried out in order to find weapons or some other clues.

“Now we have already taken video recordings from houses that are located around the forest, the forest itself is 430 hectares, which is more than four square kilometers. Now it is being combed to try to find weapons or some other clues. Video recordings are being studied in order to see who entered this forest, who left it, not only on the day of the attempt to kill Serhiy Shefir, but also on other days. The traffic of mobile phones is also being studied, but it is not obvious that the killer used a mobile phone,” he said.
