You're reading: Georgia to file request to Poland for Saakashvili’s extradition

The parliamentary majority of Georgia believes that if former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili decides to stay in Poland for a long time, whereto he was expelled from Ukraine on February 12, the Georgian side will send a request to Warsaw for his extradition.

“If Saakashvili settles down in Poland and migrate there, then the request will be sent there,” the member of the parliamentary majority Alexander Kantaria said on the air of the Georgian news television channel Palitranews.

At the same time, he recalled that the court sentenced Saakashvili in Georgia.

“He is not a suspect, the trial was held, the verdict has already been passed and, naturally, he is expected here,” the deputy said.
