President of the European Parliament David-Maria Sassoli is happy with Oleh Sentsov’s release and is waiting for the opportunity to personally present him the Sakharov Prize.
Sassoli wrote about this on his Twitter page.
“It is with relief and a profound joy that I learned today of the release of Ukrainian filmmaker Oleh Sentsov. He resisted injustice with dignity and stood up for democracy and human rights. I look forward to being able to hand him Parliament’s Sakharov Prize in person soon,” he said.
