You're reading: EBRD issues 5 million euros loan to Piraeus Bank

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has provided Piraeus Bank (Kyiv) with a loan in hryvnias worth 5 million euros for lending to small and medium-sized enterprises (SME), as well as financing in the amount of 10 million euros under the risk sharing program, EBRD Senior Adviser on External Affairs Anton Usov has said.

“The EBRD and Piraeus Bank Ukraine support the development of Ukrainian small and medium enterprises by offering new financial products that will help reduce project and currency risks. The financing package organized by the EBRD for the bank includes a local currency loan of up to 5 million euros for lending to SMEs and financing of 10 million euros under the EBRD’s Risk Sharing Facility,” he said on Facebook.

Raiffeisen Bank Aval (Kyiv) is also a participant in the EBRD’s Risk Sharing Facility in Ukraine.

Piraeus Bank (formerly International Commercial Bank) was founded in 1994. As of Jan. 1, the largest shareholder of the bank with a stake of 99.9918% was Piraeus Bank S.A (Greece).

Piraeus Bank ranked 34th among 76 banks operating in the country as of Oct. 1, 2019 in terms of total assets (Hr 2.930 billion), according to the National Bank of Ukraine.
