Holding early local elections in Donetsk and Luhansk regions is impossible to ensure an honest electoral process, time is needed after the de-occupation and reintegration of territories, said Yulia Klymenko, the MP from the Holos faction in the Verkhovna Rada.
“For the sixth year in a row, people in the occupied territories have been brainwashed by Russian propaganda. How are we going to hold elections there? How will Ukrainian political forces be nominated there if there is, in principle, no Ukrainian political agenda? Therefore, some period of time must pass,” said the party’s press service.
Klymenko noted that in the beginning it is necessary to read the signed communique in full in the original language, and not the excerpts provided. According to her, on Wednesday, at a committee of the Rada, deputies will consider the issue of implementing the Steinmeier formula in terms of elections until the establishment of control over the border.
“The security aspect should go first: the liberation of territories, control over the border. A certain period passes, three-five years, and only after that we hold elections,” she said.
The parliamentarian called “fake” those elections that can take place.
“All that will happen without this is a fake. This is Putin’s plan for which he occupied these territories,” she said.
