  • Yet another (the fourth since 2015!) Ukraine’s ammunition depot caught fire, this time in Chernihiv Oblast. As it happened, massive explosions have ripped through it, scaring Ukrainians who live nearby. On this map, you can see where it happened and its scale.
  • Democratic Alliance party has united with the Samopomich party. Now they will take part in the 2019 parliament elections together, and Samopomich’s leader Andriy Sadovyi will be their joint candidate in the 2019 presidential election.
  • Freelancer for the Kyiv Post and journalist for Belarusian opposition publications Dzmitry Halko has been sent to a labor camp by the Minsk City Court. This decision upholds a four-year prison sentence imposed on him in July. Halko was charged with allegedly using violence against Belarusian police officers.
  • Ukrainian film director, Russia’s political prisoner Oleg Sentsov has been shortlisted for the Sakharov Prize. The prize is awarded by the European Parliament to individuals who have fought for human rights and freedom of thought.
