‘Customs Visa-Free Regime’ Comes Into Effect in Ukraine

On Oct, 1, 2022, the Convention on Common Transit came into effect in Ukraine.

The relevant statement was made by the Ukrainian Finance Ministry, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“On October 1, 2022, the provisions of the Convention on Common Transit entered into force for Ukraine, and businesses got an opportunity to internationally transport goods to 35 other Member States, using a single transit document,” the report states.

The first transit declaration created as part of the so-called ‘customs visa-free regime’ has been sent from Germany to Ukraine today. Customs officers can already see it in the New Computerised Transit System (NCTS) and are waiting for a truck to arrive.

The Ukrainian side has also created the first transit declaration. A number of other declarations in the system are now awaiting the arrival of goods at the customs office of departure. Such goods will be placed under the common transit procedure and delivered to the customs office of destination in the Member States of the Convention.

According to the Ukrainian Finance Ministry, as part of the ‘customs visa-free regime’, a single transit document is submitted to transport goods from one country to another: from the customs office of departure to the customs office of destination. This speeds up customs formalities at the border and reduces relevant costs for businesses.
