The number of officially confirmed COVID-19 cases in Ukraine has reached 42,982 as of 9 a.m. on June 28, Health Minister Maksym Stepanov said at a morning press briefing.

Ukraine has identified 917 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, a slight decrease from the 948 new cases recorded the previous day.

Over the past 24 hours, 19 people have died of the coronavirus, bringing the total death toll from COVID-19 in the country up to 1,129.

Additionally, 233 patients have recovered, bringing the country’s total number of recoveries to 18,934.

Over the past 24 hours, 237 people have been hospitalized – a record number since the start of the epidemic.

Among the new COVID-19 cases, 61 are children and 65 are medical workers. A total of 3,147 children and 6,580 medical workers have been diagnosed with COVID-19 in Ukraine.

The regions with the highest number of newly registered cases are Lviv Oblast (173), Rivne Oblast (93) and Zakarpattia Oblast (86) and the city of Kyiv (69).

During his morning briefing on June 27, Stepanov said that Ukraine had performed 14,169 COVID-19 tests in the past 24 hours. That includes 9,645 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests and 4,524 antibody tests (IFA).
