The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has settled the financing of legal aid services for Ukrainian prisoners of war in Russia from the state budget.

The corresponding decision was made at a government meeting on Wednesday, an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent reported.

In particular, the Cabinet of Ministers extended the procedure for the formation and use by foreign diplomatic institutions of Ukraine of state budget funds for the implementation of measures to protect the rights and interests of Ukrainian citizens abroad to Ukrainian prisoners of war.

It is noted that the implementation of the document will provide public funding for the provision of services to render independent and professional legal assistance to citizens of Ukraine – prisoners of war, to whom illegal criminal prosecution is applied in the territory of the aggressor state, including Ukrainian sailors.
