During the meeting between President of the United States Joe Biden and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, the subject of Ukraine’s accession to NATO was touched upon.
“Regarding Ukraine’s accession to NATO […] This subject was touched lightly. And here, perhaps, there is nothing to discuss,” Putin said during his briefing in Geneva.
He also said that Joe Biden agreed that the Minsk agreements should be the basis for the settlement of the armed conflict in eastern Ukraine.
“As for Ukraine, this subject was touched upon. I cannot say that it is in great detail. But, as far as I understood President Biden, he agrees that the Minsk agreements should be the basis of the settlement in southeastern Ukraine,” Putin said at a press conference following talks with the U.S. President on June 16.
