Courts in Russia’s Rostov region and in Russia-occupied Crimea have extended until August 15 the arrest of 24 Crimean Tatars accused by the Russians of organizing and participating in the Hizb ut-Tahrir organization banned in Russia, lawyer Edem Semedlyaev has said.
“Five court hearings were held in Rostov region: in Taganrog, Shakhty and three in Rostov-on-Don. One more was held at the Kyiv district court of Simferopol. The courts extended arrest for all for three months, until August 15,” Semedlyaev, who is coordinating the work of the Crimean defense group, said, adding that lawyers will appeal against the decision to extend the measure of restraint.
Semedlyaev said that among those arrested there are men of different ages: the oldest was born in 1960, the youngest in 1994.
